TYRANNOSAURUS

One of the most ferocious of the dinosaurs was the terrible seven-ton meat-eating Tyrannosaurus, which literally means "king of the tyrant lizards."

Tyrannosaurus was probably the largest land predator ever. It stood almost 20 feet tall on its rear legs, had a massive tail, puny front legs, powerful jaws and sharp seven-inch-long was edged teeth for tearing its prey, such as plant-eating hadrosaurs. From nose to tail Tyrannosaurus measured up to 45 feet in length. Its skull alone was nearly four feet long.

These terrible predators lived toward the very end of the age of dinosaurs and likely prayed on packs of duck0billed Hadrosaurs as well as herds of better-defended Triceratops.
