Traveling To Tondo

Theme: Sometimes it is not wise to go along with the crowd, but wiser to do what one knows makes sense or is right.

Plot: Bowane asked his friends, Embenga, Nguma and Ulu , to accompany him to Tondo so he can marry a beautiful cat. Unfortunately, many delays during the trip prevent them from arriving for many years, so the female cat married someone else.

Characters:

• Bowane - a sincere, and faithful friend, but unrealistic.
• Ebenga - a good friend, but self-centered regarding her request that they all wait until the nuts ripened.
• Nguma - a supportive friend, but self-centered regarding his request that they all wait until his food digested.
• Ulu - a supportive friend, but like the others self-centered. Also, they were all a little dim witted as they could surely have found a way around the tree.
• The beautiful feline - practical

Illustrations: Are by Will Hilenbrand who effectively tells the story with his pictures. I'm not sure of the medium he used, but the muted colors combined with his style do produce an African flavor.
