THE LONELY LIONESS and the Ostrich Chicks


    Orgin: A Masai Tale

    Theme: Kidnapping is not okay regardless of the underlying motives.

    Plot: Lioness is driven by her loneliness to kidnap Mother Ostrich's chicks. After Mother Ostrich pleaded with other animals to help her get her chicks back, the Mongoose comes to her rescue.

    Characters:

    • Lioness - consumed in her self-centered world of lonliness.
    • Mother Ostrich - loving mother who wants her babies back.
    • Baby Chicks - young and nieve. Instinctively they follow anyone who is kind to them.
    • Gazelle - is afraid of Lioness. She said, "I wouldn't argue with a lioness if she said that the moon was her cub."
    • Hyena - is described as cowardly.
    • Jackal - trys to use logic with Lioness, but is out witted by Lioness.
    • Mongoose - is brave and clever. He distracts Lioness, so Mother Ostrich can save her babies.
