Welcome to the Math Lesson Plan Homepage!

Dr. Joseph Furner (FAU) and pre-service teacher Andrea Jacobsen created
"Internet Field Trip on Fractions and Geometry"
This lesson is on fractions/geometry as it relates to parts and wholes. ESOL strategies will be to use pattern block manipulatives and pair ESOL and non-ESOL on computers to incorporate the ISTE Tech Standards of basic operations for computer use.

"Exploring Area/Perimeter Using Coordinate Geometry"
Students learn about area and perimeter through coordinate geometry. The use of children's literature, hands-on manipulatives, and the Internet will be incorporated.

Dr. Mary Kay Bacallao (STU) and Ladishia Hawkins created
"Similar and Congruent Triangles"
Students create and classify different types of triangles using an online geo-board. They explore the concepts of similar and congruent as they discover how to draw similar and congruent triangles.

"Simple Bar Graph Using Excel"
Students create surveys and generate data for a simple Excel bar graph using 2 variables. NETS standards for students include standards 1-6 for grades 3-5.

Lizzie Gonzalez, (FGCU) Kishia Aguilar, Amy Osbourne created:
"Place Value and Patterns: What is the Pattern"
Students understand the significance of a number’s place value in this lesson by interactively engaging patterns and two-digit place values. Students complete a 10 by 10 grid to create a number puzzle.

"Tech Number Patterns"
Students will be engaging in interacting activities with the computer and other students to recognize patterns in even numbers.

Mary KayBacallao
"Problem Solving with Batting Averages"
Students use data from an Excel document to analyze and predict trends in batting averages.
http://www.beaconlc.org/boa/display.asp?lessonid=9761

"Creating Circle Graphs using Excel"
Students evaluate data from a circle graph that compares time spent on various activities. They will be able to use the computer to manipulate their own data as they compare, examine, and evaluate data using circle graphs.

Joseph M. Furner
Andrea Jacobsen
"Learning about Shapes with Tangrams and the Net"
This lesson uses tangrams, children's literature, and websites to teach primary students about shapes.
This lesson addresses ISTE Standards: I, II, III, IV.

"Reinforcing Fractions using a Fraction Calculator"
This lesson incorporates the use the of the TI-Explorer Calculators to teach and reinforce operations with fraction/mixed number concepts using technology.
This lesson addresses ISTE NETS Standards: I, II, III, IV, V

Amy Osborne FGCU created:
"Current Events- Attack on America"

Explore and discuss the significance of what happened to the world on 9-11-01.

Janet Harrigan St. Monica School, Opa Locka, FL
"Allowance Time"

Students use pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters to show different ways to reach the same three digit total. Students use coin values to record data and to apply knowledge.

"More Money, More Money"

This activity will introduce students to the value of money. They will be encouraged to explore money, problem solving, subtraction, multiplication, and numbers. The students will read the poem and determine the value lost with each trade.
