Information for Level I (Block 4) Non-Final Integrated Field Experience/Student Teaching Orientation

Spring 2013

Welcome! The orientation session is MANDATORY FOR ALL STUDENT TEACHERS.  Attendance will be taken.  Punctuality is expected!  All Block 4 students should attend all courses as scheduled.  The date/time below is for the student teaching course only.  If you have a course conflict, please contact Mrs. Kratt ahead of time.

The Office of Student Teaching reserves the right to withdraw a student teacher from the Block 4/Level 1 Student Teaching course if the student does not attend the orientation session.  Carefully note the date, time, and location of your orientation session (see below).  This course is two full days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday). All Student Teachers will be at orientation on Tuesday and will visit the assigned placement classroom on Wednesday of the first week of the semester.  Please be sure to contact your cooperating teacher before that date to inform her/him of your visitation. You can contact them by viewing the school website and either locating their email address or by calling the school office and asking for contact information.

Level I (Block 4) Student Teaching Orientation

9:00am - 4:00pm

Tuesday, January 8, 2013 – CC 214

The First Days of School by Harry Wong is required for all Block 4/Level 1 Student Teachers.  This is the book you bought in Professional Studies last fall and were told to keep for block 4. If for any reason you do not have one, please see about borrowing and/or purchasing a copy. I did not order it for this course through the bookstore though. Note:  This book is useful for both Student Teaching levels.

An FGCU student teaching name badge is required and can be purchased at the University Bookstore.

Make sure to check the Student Teaching website http://coe.fgcu.edu/Internship for placement information and take note of the district in which you have been assigned. You will need to see about fingerprinting/background checks which are to be completed prior to this orientation. Contact information for each district can be found on our website. This is a requirement from the districts, not the university, so please contact the school district office directly for questions.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
