Your Task
| 1. First, you will be assigned to
a team of 5 students. |
 |
2. You will each decide
on a job (writer, researcher, computer wizard, artistic director, leader).
Start your research by exploring the websites at the end of this section.
Collect information in the form of a chart, web, or notes.
3. Decide which one of the tasks
your group will complete. Your teacher will have poster board, construction
paper, and markers for you to use. |
|
As a group, you will do one of the
following:
1. Create a board game called "EDISON."
Be sure to write the rules for playing and keeping score.
2. Research the events of the early
1900s to create a two-page edition of what might have been a typical newspaper
in the United States published during the Edison-Ford heyday. Give your
newspaper a fictitious name and a date that follows the event you decide
to cover in your lead story. Your lead story should focus on an event related
to Edison or Ford.
Your front page will --

depicting a major event that reports the Who?, What?, Where?, and Why?
of the event.
-
Contain at least one (but no more than
two) pictures which relate to the lead story
-
Feature an editorial that contains your
perspective on the events you have read about
-
Be arranged in a newspaper format
-
Be visually appealing
3. Create an ABC book of Thomas Edison's
inventions. You can make your own pictures or copy them by right clicking
on the image on the Internet and saving them to a disk. Be sure to credit
your sources.
4. Create a skit about some aspect
of Mr. Edison's life from information you find online and act it out for
the class. Be creative! Be sure that your skit is not only entertaining
, but also informative.
5. Create a brochure about Mr. Edison.
Your brochure should include --
-
Vital statistics such as birth date,
place of birth, etc.
-
Personal characeristics
-
3 quotes from Mr. Edison
-
A list of career highlights
-
A picture of Mr. Edison
