5. Are there any face-to-face meetings?
Yes, some courses are offered on-campus while others are complimented
with face-to-face meetings (hybrid format).
6. Who are the faculty in the Curriculum and Instruction program?

7. What is WebCT?
The 13 courses in the program are delivered either in face-to-face,
online or a combination of both formats with WebCT
as the course management system supporting them which offers many features
including: chat rooms, bulletin posting, and student home pages.
To register for WebCT:

Go to http://garnet.fgcu.edu

Click on Create my WebCT

Enter the required information and click CONTINUE.

Enter a User Name and Password you just created.

Click on Add course.

Scroll down to the course, and click on it.

Click on REGISTER. Do not enter user name and password.

Click on RETURN to myWebCT.

Click on the course title.
Some professors will give you a direct link to the their WebCT page.
8. What is an electronic portfolio?
Students are expected to develop an electronic portfolio and
post it on a web server. The portfolio describes the accomplishments of
students in the program.
9. Do I have web space to place my web pages?
You have web space on the student server. Go to http://student.fgcu.edu
for directions on how to download an FTP program and how to move files
to your web server.
10. How do I apply for graduation?
You can download a graduation application in PDF format. You
must fill it out and send it by mail or fax. Graduation
Application. For more information, please contact Mr. Ed Beckett or
your academic faculty adviser.
11. How do I communicate?
Please activate your student e-mail account at http://condor.fgcu.edu

12. What is the Capstone Project Class?
Students in the program develop a capstone project that applies
technology to an educational setting and study its impact. Students are
encouraged to sign up for this near the end of the program. Faculty approval
of a project must be obtained. Students are expected to implement a technology
project in an educational setting that demonstrates their abilities to
take a leadership role in technology as well as to evaluate how technology
impacts the teaching and learning process.
13. Are there national standards for educational technology?
Yes, check out the
ISTE standards matrix that shows how the ETOL program meets national
standards.
14. How can I provide input into the program?
At present, you can provide feedback about the program by sending
email or wrting to Dr. Honeychurch, Division chair or Dr. Byrnes, Dean.
15. What conference should I attend?
Florida Educational Technology
Conference- FETC
16. How can I keep from mixing up the EME 6936's and EME 6930's?
Be sure to look at the CRN number and/or the title.
17. Do I have to take the courses in a particular sequence?

18. How many courses should I take each semester?
If you are a full-time student, you could take three courses
per semester. If you are working full-time, it would be best to take two
courses during the Fall and Spring.
19. How long has this program been around, and how many students are
in the program?
The Curriculum and Instruction program started in 1997 as a
face-to-face educational technology concentration. In 2000, the program
offered courses 100% online. There are approximately 20 students pursuing
the educational technology concentration every semester.
The EdTech concentration for the C&I program
had been redesigned and a new program (39 hours) was implemented last Fall
2003. Students who were admitted last summer 2003 or prior to that term
will follow the 36-hour program of study.
20. Are there other programs like this?
You can check University
of South Florida and the University of
Central Florida programs.
21. How much is the tuition?
In 2001, $163.94 for in-state, and $571.10 for out-of-state
per credit hour. This fee is subject to change and is for graduate
credit hours. Please check the graduate studies website for updated information.
22. Do I have to learn how to program a computer?
Yes, but you do not have to become an expert computer programmer.
