An Introduction

The purpose of the Personnel Development Partnership (PDP) at FGCU is to increase the State's capacity to recruit, prepare and retain highly qualified personnel in Florida that provide instructional and related services to children with disabilities.

The Partnership is a special project funded by the State of Florida, Department of Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services, through federal assistance under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B and/or Part D.

The PDP at FGCU are members of the SW Florida Personnel Development Alliance which includes the University of South Florida PDP, surrounding schools districts and numerous discretionary projects.  

Our Mission

The mission of the Personnel Development Partnership at FGCU is to ensure a quality and qualified workforce in exceptional student education in the five counties surrounding FGCU. The Partnership endeavors to utilize the strength of diverse families, to acknowledge the value of prior learning, experiences and differences, and to provide advanced training and support to empower those who deliver education to children, youth and young adults with disabilities. The PDP at FGCU partners include Collier, Charlotte, Lee, Glades and Hendry county school districts, FGCU College of Education faculty, parents and community leaders.
