Dr. Susan J. Cooper is an assistant professor of Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in science education. She has more than 30 years of experience teaching science and math in middle and high school.  Her major responsibilities include:

  • Teaching graduate and undergraduate science methods courses for pre-service and in-service K-12 teachers
  • Advising Curriculum and Instruction M.Ed. students specializing in science education

Her research interests include integrating reading into science teaching through engaging reading strategies, encouraging K-12 STEM teaching through professional development workshops, and implementation of inquiry-based instruction using the conceptual change model.
